w/c: 20.2.17

We've had another busy week on the 2-3s side ...

The children were invited to explore a tray of peas, sweetcorn and pasta pieces and have been supported to use their pincer grip in order to pick them up and drop them into a variety of pots and sorting trays.
Some children also enjoyed practising their fine motor skills using the tweezers provided.

To continue our exploration and discussions around dental care and hygiene, the children were also invited to create and mould teeth using play dough.
They used a variety of cutting tools to cut pieces of dough before manipulating them into teeth-like shapes and positioning them into the mouths available.

Outdoors this week, the children have been exploring their physical abilities  with the support of stepping stones and balancing beams.
They enjoyed having a go, while paying great attention to their balancing skills as they moved carefully along the stones and beams.

Interestingly, a small group of children also enjoyed recreating a similar experience indoors. They chose to gather a selection of foam and wooden blocks, arrange them in a line along the carpet before walking carefully along them.

We've also been caring for our guinea pigs out in the garden this week. The children were invited to help clean and restock their hutch with hay/straw, feed and groom them while also helping to transfer them to their run within the larger area of the garden.
