Stay and Play week (8th-12th February)

This week we have welcomed parents and carers to come and stay and play with their children either at the start of their child's session or at the end of it, this was offered for both the "pandas" and "koalas".

Stay and play is a great opportunity for the children to show their parents/ carers what they like to do at nursery, favourite toys and a general feeling of ownership and proud of what they do at nursery. It is also very beneficial for parents/ carers to see how the routine of the nursery works, learn some of the songs we sing and have the chance to have a chat with their child's key worker and other staff that they may not usually see.

We have enjoyed a variety of activities including drawing, painting, threading and baking.

The children particularly liked to share stories with their parents/ carers and the excitement of having some different adults in the room drew a lot of attention from other children. too.

Some of the feedback we had from parents;

  • It was really nice to see their child playing and socialising with their friends
  • It was interesting to learn the routine at nursery and didn't know we had a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack
  • Great to see how well behaved their child sat at meal times and liked that the children had choices between cereal/ drinks

We are aware that some parents were unable to come to stay and play as they work during term time, therefore our next stay and play will be over 2 weeks; 1 week during term time and 1 week during holiday time.

The dates for the next stay and play is w/b 23.05.16 and w/b 30.05.16 so please pop it in your diaries and keep an eye out nearer the time to book a time slot.
