Chick Update

We have had the chicks now for over a week and unfortunately we will be saying goodbye to them tomorrow.

By Friday we had 11 chicks hatched, with one egg that failed to hatch; this is quite common and has prompted some good conversations with the children.

The children (and staff!) have loved having the chicks at nursery, being able to look to see how they have changed over time; looking at their size and now the change of covering as some are starting to grow their feathers.

The chicks are fed and watered twice a day and cleaned out each morning, the children have enjoyed helping with this and choosing other fruit and vegetables to give them, such as melon and cucumber.

We have all enjoyed listening to the twittering's they make and how they interact with humans and each other. The chicks are very friendly and the children have had many opportunities to pet them; encouraging gentle hands and quiet voices.

We hope you have been hearing all about the chicks form your children at home and you have enjoyed looking at the photos and videos.
