For some time now, we've been encouraging the children to carry out small tasks independently. Some of these include; taking off their own shoes and putting on their wellies, washing and drying their hands, pouring drinks and preparing their own snack. The latter has been a firm favourite particularly over the last couple of weeks.
The children have been invited to pick fruit and vegetables from our own vegetable patch in the garden before using our child-friendly knives to cut up pieces ready to eat.
Many children demonstrated good control when handling the knife and ensured they used them carefully and appropriately when cutting.
Another firm favourite this week has involved exploring a variety of musical instruments.
The children have particularly enjoyed playing the large xylophone, the bongo drums and our large gathering drum.
We look forward to welcoming all of our returning children as well as our new starters into nursery over the next couple of weeks!
