We try to promote children's independence in lots of ways at nursery. One of these being at snack time. This week our friends have been busy chopping up there own fruit and vegetables to eat. Adults supported children by guiding and modelling safe chopping skills.
The 2-3's children will often help out adults during the day carrying out small tasks such as folding the laundry. This week some of our friends have been very helpful and swept up after lunch. Children also handed out lunch plates to there peers. This is something so simple but effective and gives children pride and confidence. Why not try it at home for example asking children to help you set the table or prepare snacks. This can even work out and about for example giving children visual shopping lists to collect items in a supermarket.
A few more snaps from the week....
