August 2015

August 2015

We have been extending the children's interest in throwing this week. Many children enjoy watching the effects that occur when throwing different kinds of objects. This behaviour is sometimes identified as a trajectory schema. We planned some 'trajectory' activities to allow the children to enjoy throwing in a safe and suitable way. The children loved watching water balloons pop and splash when they threw them at shape targets which they helped to draw themselves.

Bowling has also been very popular and has allowed the children to show their turn taking skills, waiting for their go and cheering on their friends. This activity also supported the children's learning in relation to numbers and colours and many could identify how many pins were knocked down and how many were left after each throw.
