The last of the summer: August

It has been a busy last few weeks of the Summer, the children have been exploring a variety of activities both inside and outside, we have also enjoyed a number of trips up to Brunel woods.

Shredded paper:

Inside we had the texture tray filled with shredded paper. This activity encouraged children to look for hidden shapes, identifying the different shapes and colours. Some children found objects of interests around the room for example animals and cars and hid them in the shredded paper.

Trips to the woods:

We have enjoyed a number of trips to the woods. It has been a great opportunity for the children to explore new environments. The children enjoyed climbing and manoeuvring on the grassy banks, looking at the different textures of the leaves and trees and finding different creepy crawleys.

Our fairy garden:

Sonia has created a beautiful mini garden for our model fairies to live in. The children have really enjoyed adding stones and material they have found in the garden for example leaves, sand and sticks to create a mini fairy world. Each day the children have helped Sonia to water the plants and move the fairy's around.

Our home corner:

During the last couple of weeks of the summer our role play area was set up as a home corner. The main focus of this area is the dining table, encouraging children to prepare food for one and other and sit at the table to eat and drink.
